Super Performances at Tryon Spring 1
The AMW Stables team had a fun and rewarding time at the Tryon Spring 1 show, held May 1-5 in Mill Spring, North Carolina. “I must say all of our horses jumped fantastic last week in Tryon! Congratulations to everyone on a great and successful show,” said trainer Annie Walters.
Sarasen Jablon was on fire all week with her Crocodile Rock and Kingstown. Sarasen and “Gator” jumped to their first score of 90 in the Large Pony Hunters and went on to win the Pony Hunter Classic and place third in the USHJA Pony Hunter Derby. Sarasen also won the USEF Pony Medal and was second in the WIHS Pony Medal.
Aboard “King,” Sarasen won two rounds in the Children's Hunters, securing them the reserve championship, and they also won the NAL/WIHS Children's Hunter Classic. In addition, we discovered this week that the pair are currently leading the NAL National Children’s Hunter Rankings! Sarasen also picked up excellent ribbons in the equitation, placing fourth in the SCHJA Governor’s Cup and THIS Children’s Medal.
Esme Melchior’s Vyper Z continued to find his niche in the hunters and jumped his way to reserve champion in the Baby Greens. He and Annie won both over fences rounds on the second day for the tricolor. AMW Stables’ Don Perignon added another championship to his collection, this time in the 2’9” USHJA Hunters with Annie aboard.
The Junior riders continued to log consistent rounds in the Junior Hunters and equitation classes. Brooke Farfone and Knee Deep had great performances all week and earned some excellent ribbons in a big Large Junior Hunter division. Lillian Cain and On Point won the 3’3” Junior Hunter 16-17 Handy class with a super round, mastering the rollback and the trot fence! They also placed second in an over fences class and had other impressive ribbons in just their second time in the Junior Hunters.
Our adults also enjoyed their time in the show ring. Chelsea Koornick and Truffle jumped to impressive ribbons in a very competitive middle Adult Amateur Hunter division. Kristin Paulson and Emontros After Party jumped in style to two blue ribbons and a third in the .90 Jumpers, and Tricia Booker returned to the show ring after a three-year break to big success. Aboard Anders Paulson’s Balou De Nous, she earned a blue ribbon in the .90 Jumpers in between working at the IHSA Nationals over in the indoor arena!
